Boca de Oro: An art and lit fest in Santa Ana

Need a literary staycation? Take a daytrip to downtown Santa Ana for Boca de Oro, Orange County’s art and lit fringe fest.

It happens Sat., March 4th, and it’s all free! With readings by esteemed local authors, writing and bookmaking workshops, collaborative art projects, open mics, and lots of readings, the all-day event should be really interactive and community oriented.

One event seems especially fun: A panel with authors included in a brand new anthology, Orange County: A Literary Field Guide — with work by Victoria Patterson (interviewed here!), Michael Chabon, Susan Straight, and many others. The panelists will include Lisa Alvarez, Andrew Tonkovich & Tom Zoellner.

Plus, a number of the events — including a showcase of Santa Ana Library’s “Memories of Migration Project” and two panels addressing the growing incarceration and recidivism problem in the U.S. — will address pressing sociopolitical issues.

Boca de Oro. Various locations in Downtown Santa Ana. Sat., March 4, 2 pm to 10 pm. Free.
